LIRR practice was that once a road number was assigned to a car, it
stayed with the car as long as it was in service. In other words, these
cars may have gone through several paint schemes over the years, but
their numbers remained the same.
A dozen "canned" road numbers are provided for the car sides.
Road numbers may be recombined to form any valid road number.

without whom this project would never have happened.
